Simulation study on parametric dependence of whistler-mode hiss generation in the plasmasphere

Abstract We conduct electromagnetic particle simulations to examine the applicability of nonlinear wave growth theory generation process plasmaspheric hiss. firstly vary gradient background magnetic field from a realistic model rather steep model. Under such variation, threshold amplitude in increases quickly and overlap between optimum disappears correspondingly, is suppressed. In simulations, as we enlarge coefficient field, waves generated near equator do not grow through propagation. By examining range suitable values inhomogeneity factor S (i.e., $$|S|<2$$ | S < 2 ), find packets limited equatorial region when steep, showing good agreement with what indicated by critical distance theory. then check dependence hiss emissions on different hot electron densities.
